I was going through some old photos/newspaper clippings and found something my grandmother had saved. When I first looked at it, all I saw was the picture. It bothered me a little. Seeing 9 year old me having to hold up a sign saying I Love You Mom!. I thought poor me, I wonder what I was thinking at the time. But I still stand by my assertion that Mother's Day didn't really bother me growing up, so I was surprised at how it made me feel now.
But then, I looked further below and realized why it had never bothered me...
I have a wonderful Grandmother who rocks! I count myself lucky to know her, and have had her as my honorary mother when it was necessary. I'm very glad we named Bonnie after her, and I hope I'm able to live my life with as much grace as her.
